I ordered these back in May last year when Colourpop had free international shipping. I never tried anything from Colourpop, so I just had to get a few products. At first, I wanted to buy the Ultra Matte lipsticks, but I figured they will be too drying on my lips. Finally, I settled to buy the Lippie Stix and I am so glad I did. They have one of the best formulas I have ever tried. With the purchase of 20$, I believe, I could also choose one mini Ultra Satin Lip, so I got the chance to try this formula too.
Lippie Stix
Everybody always talks about these and everybody loves them. There are four different formulas and finishes of the lippie stix: créme, satin, matte and matte x. I tried all of them, except for the satin one. The lippie stix I ordered are Aquarius (créme), Brink and Tootsie (matte) and Cami (matte x).
I love the packaging, simple white with silver writing, but the writing does wear off after some time. On the bottom, you have the shade name. They are super easy to store, you can quickly see the shade. I have them in an acrylic drawer, so I can quickly see which one I want. You get 1g of product for 5$, which to me feels like a very small amount, but the price is still quite good. The lipstick comes out with a twist that workes fine.
Aquarius is a créme formula. It feels like a normal creamy lipstick, that's why it's very comfortable on the lips. It has a normal creamy finish. This shade can look a bit patchy if I'm not careful when applying. But this is mostly because it's lighter than my lips, it is a light nude shade. It has an average lasting power for a normal lipstick. Not really a fan of this one, I prefer other formulas. The shade isn't my favourite either.
Tootsie and Brink have a matte formula. The formula is very comfortable, it's very smooth and easy to apply. It needs some time to set, after it doesn't move or smudge. The staying power is impressive, unless you are eating something very greasy, it will survive eating. On average it lasts for about 4 to 5 hours or more. The finish is not completely matte, it does have some sheen to it. Tootsie is my favourite out of all and it's a cool toned grey-ish brown and Brink is a warmer toned brown.
Cami has a matte x formula. Again, smooth and easy to apply, very comfortable on the lips, not drying. It's well pigmented. It sets and dries to a matte finish. I would say it lasts for about half a day, maybe even more, it depends on what you are eating. Cami is a mauve rose shade, that I feel will suit a lot of people.
Ultra Satin Lip
This is a mini size, so it's only 0,64g. They usually contain 3,2g and cost 6$. It comes in a clear packaging with a silver lid and silver writing, you can see the shade through the packaging. The doe foot applicator is soft and really easy to use. It's small and precise, but that's probably just because it's a mini version.
I got a shade called Dopey. It's a mauve rose shade with some purple tones. The formula feels creamy and almost moussey, I love it. The formula is good pigmented and it dries in about 5-10 Minutes. The finish is almost completely matte. It does transfer a little. Since I have heard the Ultra Mattes are very drying, I expected this one to be a bit drying too, but it's not, it feels comfortable on the lips. The formula is amazing, it feels and even looks so smooth on the lips, it doesn't seem to emphasize dry patches at all, at least this shade doesn't.
It lasts for a couple of hours but usually doesn't survive a meal. I don't really mind that because it's easy to reapply. It's easy to remove with a makeup remover, I didn't notice it would stain my lips. So it's not one of those matte formulas that would stay on the lips no mather what, but it's a very comfortable, yet quite longlasting formula, but won't survive bigger meals. For that you will probably have to go with the Ultra Mattes (you can see a review of those on Mateja's blog).
I fell in love with the formula of the matte and matte x lippie stix. I already purchased three new ones, when they had 1+1 on them. Also included in the special offer were the super shock eyeshadows, so I got one of them to try too. Ultra Satin Lip is also really nice, but I just tend to reach more for the lippie stix. I would love to try some other Colourpop products too, I wanted to order the concealer, but sadly it wasn't in stock. Yes, Please! eyeshadow palette is also high on my WL.
