Today I wrote a longer post with a few products that I was testing lately. These are some new products from Catrice and Essence for autumn and winter. They do this twice a year to change things up and bring some new trends to the drugstore for an affordable price.
Catrice Lip Sugar Scrub and Balm 010 Sugar Kiss
The lip scrub comes in a beautiful rose gold and white packaging that contains 4g of product and costs a little more than 4€. This is my first lip scrub in such form and I have to say that I like it. I feel it's just a perfect consistency, not to harsh but it still manages to exfoliate the lips. It is transparent and has a slightly shiny finish. The balm actually nourishes the lips well. The sugar stays on the lips for a while but it does melt after time. A very nice product, I use it a lot lately.
Essence Velvet Matte 06 Unredsistible
The lipstick comes in a very childish packaging, but I still think I like these better than the old ones, even though they looked more elegant. The packaging seems sturdy and I feel it won't just open in the purse. It contains 3,8g of product and costs around 3€. The formula is very creamy and pigmented, it just glides on the lips and feels very comfortable, it also doesn't emphasize dry patches. It doesn't feel like a proper matte lipstick and it isn't drying on the lips. Since it is so creamy, you will need a lip liner because it's hard to apply it precisely. On the other side, I didn't notice it would bleed, even though it is a strong red-ish shade. It does transfer and you have to be careful if you touch your face/lips a lot, because you will have lipstick all over your face. The finish is creamy at first, but after a while, it dries a bit to a powdery texture and the finish becomes a satin matte. When it dries it also doesn't transfer as much. I do like it, it takes some time to dry, but you can always bloat it with some tissue paper. I already have a more wearable nude shade on my WL.
Essence Insta-Care Lipstick 02 Daily Maybe
The Insta-Care Lipstick is probably my favourite product out of all of these, I really like it. It comes in a slim packaging that you have to twist and I need to mention that it did already break. It contains 1.8g of product and costs around 2-3€. The shade Daily Maybe is perfect for my taste, a nude brown. The formula is buttery, it feels like a balm and it's easy to apply. It contains shea butter oil and vitamin E, so it nourishes the lips. The nourishment doesn't last very long, but the colour can stay for several hours. Perfect for quickly appliying it, when in a hurry or on a go.
Essence Lash On Lash Off Volumizing Magnetic Accent Lashes 01 Turn up the Volume!
I don't wear false lashes, I tried them a couple of years back but at that age, I didn't know how to properly put them on. This year the magnetic lashes became popular, Essence came out with two versions, one for volume and one for length, I got the volume ones. The packaging is nice, you just slide the lashes out and once you're done, you can put the lashes back in. Let me just tell you, I didn't manage to make these work. They should stick together and they do, with some practice they did stay on my lashes, but they literally sit on the lashes and I can feel the magnet. They also don't bend properly and look straight and weird. I tried several times to make them work but it was the same every time, maybe I did it wrong, but for me, they are a fail. They cost around 7€, which is quite expensive for my taste, but on the other side, you can use them more than once.
Essence The Little Black One Volume Mascara 010 Like Jackie O
I had high hopes for this one because I liked most mascaras from Essence that I have tried lately. It comes in a leather looking black packaging with blue details. You get 11ml of product and it costs under 5€. The wand looked promising but because of the formula it didn't comb the lashes well, actually, it did nothing. The formula is very thin and wet, I didn't notice any volume, it stuck my lashes together, it loaded them with mascara and it was just a mess. It is a very black mascara. The formula didn't want to dry down so I left it open for a while and it was better. The formula was more manageable, I still didn't notice anything special, it was just lengthening for me. It did crumble a lot through the day, it also gave me panda eyes. Even though it is a waterproof formula, it was easy to remove. Now, the formula has already dried completely and I didn't even use it so much. One of the worst Essence mascaras I have tried.
Essence Go for the Glow Highlighter Palette 02 The Warms
The palette comes with three highlighter shades and contains 12g. You can get it for around 6-7€. There are two versions of these, one with cold and one with warm shades. I got the one with warm shades. You get a bronzy, pink and another lighter and subtle pink shade. The bronze one is perfect for my skin, but it does contain a bit too much shimmer for my taste because it is very visible on the skin. The other two are not very wearable, the pink is too much for my taste, and the same goes for the last shade. They do fade throughout the day. Like I said, the first shade is okay, but it's not a palette I would wear on a daily base.
