Last week I was invited to a blogger event by The Body Shop. I really like The Body Shop, their products and the whole company, I appreciate everything that they are doing to protect the animals and the world. You can read more about their projects about fighting against animal testing, about Comunity Trade and much more on their website. If you are interested, I talked about TBS products a lot on my blog, the Vanilla Pumpkin collection is still my favourite, it's a shame that it was a limited edition.
On the event, there was mostly talking about the plastic and problems that it causes. They believe that not using the plastic is not the only answer, it should be used responsively. They say:
That’s why we’ve started using Community Trade recycled plastic from Bengaluru, India. This not only helps tackle the existing problem, it will also help to empower the waste pickers we support in Bengaluru with access to more sanitary working conditions, a fair price and the respect and recognition they deserve.
Plastics for Change are a for-profit organization that partners with local NGOs Hasiru Dala and Hasiru Dala Innovation (HDI) to provide Bengaluru’s waste pickers with a stable income and better opportunities.
These partnerships help integrate marginalized waste workers and waste pickers into organized waste management by utilizing their expertise. For HDI, their main focus is improving the livelihoods of waste pickers so that they can boost their entrepreneurial skills. They also provide training for other useful skills, including urban gardening.
They started using their recycled plastic in some of the shampoo and conditioner bottles. It's a 100% recycled plastic with 15% Community Trade recycled plastic, excluding the bottle caps.
They also introduced us to a lot of new products that you can see in the photos. They have a new carrot line that has only two products, a face wash and a face cream and both are high on my WL. Carrots are rich in antioxidants that protect the skin. One interesting fact that makes The Body Shop stand out is that they use the "damaged" carrots that the industry doesn't want because they are deformed or are not perfect in any way. They use the carrots from a farm in England. The farm produces carrots for the food industry and the ones that would be thrown away, they give to The Body Shop.
They came out with a new mask with coffee from Nicaragua. They say the mask helps to reduce the signs of fatigue so skin feels awakened, cleared of impurities and looks more radiant and pores look refined.
The product that I saw before and was very interested in trying it, is a Skin Defence face mist with an SPF 30. It should be great for extra protection during the day and it should work well over the makeup.
The two most smelling collections are, of course, the Ginger collection and the Banana collection. The concept is the same as by the carrots, only the "deformed" products are used. Both collections smell amazing and surprisingly, I think that I actually prefer the ginger scent. It's not that harsh ginger, to me it smells more fresh and subtle. The banana products also smell great, like creamy bananas.
Another new thing is a mascara Happy Go Lash that looks so cute and adorable. I only had one blurry photo so you can check it out on their website. It contains 99% natural ingredients. It should create more defined lashes and feel very lightweight. They also had a few more makeup products and if I'm not mistaken, apart from the mascara, only the cream bronzer and two palettes (Paint in Colour and Own Your Naturals) are new. The bronzer is a limited edition and it's already on my WL. The palettes look divine, especially the warm nude one. I have swatched one shade quickly at the event and the texture felt so smooth and it was nicely pigmented.
