Tina from Clay Ritual came out with a new clay product that I got a chance to test. It's a clay facial serum. Clay Ritual is a Slovenian skincare brand that I talk a lot about on my blog, so I won't go into details, here you can see some posts about their other products.
The Magic Clay Facial Serum comes in a tinted glass bottle that contains 28g of product. The regular price is 29,95€. It comes with a pipette that is well made and works like it should.
Ingredients
The serum contains some great ingredients, main are jojoba oil, castor oil, and grey clay. Castor oil is known for its nourishment and it's great for anti-aging. Jojoba oil contains vitamin E and antioxidants, as well as B-complex vitamins and some minerals like chromium, copper and zinc. Supposedly it is similar to skin sebum, that's why it doesn't feel oily on the skin and is recommended for oily and acne-prone skin but also for sensitive and dry skin. It's also great for anti-aging. The serum also contains squalane, which is a thick liquid similar to oil. It is good for repairing the skin's barrier and preventing dehydration. It restores the skin's natural elasticity and moisture. You can also find vitamin E in the serum, which is an antioxidant. It helps the skin maintain a healthy balance and reduces the damage caused by UV rays. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect, has moisturizing properties and it's good for anti-aging. Another ingredient is a geranium natural essential oil. It regulates the formation of sebum, it's also good for giving the skin moisture and elasticity. The last ingredient is of course clay which has many great benefits for the skin.
The serum has a thinner oily consistency. The scent is very strong and natural but I already got used to natural products having a stronger scent, so it doesn't bother me. My skin is weird at the moment, I always had very dry skin with little to none imperfection but lately, I have been getting some breakouts that I can't explain yet, I'm not sure what is causing them. I tried with a very simple skincare routine, I also added this serum a few times a week and my skin seems to like it. Even when I tried it for the first time, my skin was much softer and healthier looking in the morning. Now, after a couple of weeks of testing my skin is not as dry anymore, it looks plumper and better in general. I only use a small amount because a little goes a long way, I'm guessing this bottle will last me for some time.
One awesome feature with this serum is that each serum has a crystal built in it. The crystal adds the energy of love to the serum. It is a crystal of goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite. When you use up the serum, you can take the crystal out of the bottle and store it or make jewelry. Another thing that I find very unique and cute are the little designs on each of the products, little colorful fairies.
I really like the serum, it was a nice addition to my skincare routine and it seems it works well with my skin, now I have fewer breakouts but I still need to figure out what is causing them. It is great for dry skin but I wouldn't know how it performs on oily skin. I also like to use the serum with the clay facial cream, it's a perfect combination for dry skin.
Clay Ritual product always amaze me, I still have some on my wishlist, like the clay body mousse and clay deodorants. If you would like to win a serum, head over to my Instagram, where I'm giving one away :)
