It's no secret that I love the Croatian seaside, so this time my boyfriend and I decided to take a short break in a small Croatian city called Novi Vinodolski. I have never visited it but I heard it's a beautiful city. We were there the third weekend in October and we were probably the only tourists. The city was quiet and there weren't any crowds whatsoever. In the summertime, there are always so many people there but now it was nice and relaxing. This post won't be a guide or anything, I just wanted to share some photos and document my trip. If you are interested in more Croatian seaside places, I recommend you to read more of my blog posts: 8 Things to do in Makarska, Roadtrip around Brač Island and a Pakoštane guide.
When we were there, the weather was bad and cloudy but a few times a sun peaked through and we actually got an amazing sunset.
What to do in Novi Vinodolski offseason? Explore the city - it's small but still. The city didn't impress me so much but it wasn't the highest season anymore, so most shops and restaurants were closed or empty. I would suggest going on a walk down the beach and enjoying the views. You can also get yourself a spot on the rocks and watch a sunset - you will probably be alone this time of the year - so it will be more special.
There weren't much restaurant open when we were there, so we went to the same place twice. It's actually a nice place where you can get pizza, seafood and pasta. It's called Nava Pizzeria. The first night we went with pizza and on the other with their traditional dish called "čevapčiči".
In the offseason, I would say that one day in Novi Vinodolski is completely enough to explore the city and the beach. Then you can also go exploring Croatian Istra - popular cities are Pula, Rovinj, Poreč and more - or discover Rijeka, which is a bigger city, one hour away from Novi Vinodolski. From Rijeka you also have ferries to different cities and islands in Croatia.
